Why is Skateboarding Illegal?

Most of us have a sport that we love to do, and mine is skateboarding. As anyone who likes skateboarding already knows, there are signs all over the place forbidding us to skate, but why do they (lawmakers) hate it so much? It’s just board with wheels that we ride on and do tricks with; it’s not a lethal weapon. I don’t see anything wrong with that. I honestly think skateboarding is not a crime at all. Everyday I see a cop or an adult yelling at a skater for riding his board. Seriously, let skaters do what they do best. Even at school, we can’t bring our boards to even leave in a class so that after school, we can go to the skatepark. Could this be an act of hate and discrimination on skater kids? I believe it is an act of hate, but why would they hate on a harmless sport? Yeah, I understand the whole “skate at your own risk” policy, but honestly, I do skate at my own risk.  I have the common sense to know that if a trick I want to try is too risky, I don’t try it until I am a little more experienced. One professional skater named Rob Dyrdek had to get a body guard to help him skate in peace without a guard or a cop pushing him off his board. Not all skaters are mischievous or trouble makers, but I guess if one does something wrong, we all get punished. I think it should just be the troublemakers that should be punished, not the ones who respect the law.

The other problem is teachers, cops, and parents say that skateboarding teaches us nothing at all, that it’s just a waste of time. Well, they are wrong about skateboarding not teaching you anything. Skateboarding teaches you about angles, degrees, and shapes, which is your basic geometry. When we skate, we learn about the angle of the ramp and the shape and slope of it. Also, it teaches you the basic degrees of rotation like 180; 360; and 540. So, really no one can say skateboarding doesn’t teach you anything. Skateboarding is just like doing geometry, but it’s more physical and dynamic. All in all, just let skaters skate and leave us alone.
